Re-installing Office Professional on New Computer

I'm uninstalling this on my old computer, giving that machine to my husband,
and re-installing it on a new machine. Do I need to do anything to
de-activate the software (as I do for Adobe products) before I hand over the
machine) and re-install on the new machine?

We're not re-formatting the hard drive so there may be remnants in the
registry so I don't want Microsoft to think that we're doing anything fishy.
He's going to be putting his own, legal copy of Office Professional on the
machine I'm giving to him.

No, you cannot "deactivate" Office and you should be able to install and
activate it on the second machine without problems.
