RE INSTALLING WORD 2000 WIN.98 VERSION

Hi first time posting so take it easy on me,,lol I resently refomated my
computer and thus re installed everythin.All was well until MSN starting
messing up so I had to uninstall it.well in the process somehow I lost
files.not sure how I really wasn't the one doing this,,anyway all my
Microsoft apps had to be installed again,well now my Word will not install,it
states that the" windows installer failed to install the program associated
with this file." I have no idea what it's talking about..can someone help
me??? Thanks in advance

If you don't find an easier solution, you might try:
1. uninstall Office 2000 by running the Office 2000 Setup program and
clicking on "Remove Office",
2. download the Office 2000 CD1 eraser utility from
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=239938 and run it,
3. download the Office 2000 CD2 eraser utility from
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=247674 and run it, and
4. reinstall from the Office 2000 CDs.
