Re-numbering resets indents

When I right click on a bulleted paragraph and select Restart Numbering, the
left and hanging indents are also modified sometimes

Hi Greg:

Yes. That's normal. When you Restart numbering, you apply a different List
Template to the list. It may have different indents.

Use Styles for your bullets and numbering so you do not get this problem.

so, are you saying that if I used styles to create the numbering that I could
have restarted the numbering using the same style?

Hi Greg:

Yes, you can, provided the numbering attached to the style is the kind that
"will" re-start.

When you restart, Word then re-applies the same list template and you get
the same indents.

Cheers
