re-order feilds in existing database

I've got a couple of append queries where both tables have the same
fields...,except one of the tables has them in a different order than the
other. Being fussy, I'm sure, but... is there a way to re-order fields in
an existing table?
Or does it really matter, and should I stop worrying about stuff like this?
