Re-post: Vista Sleep Mode and Office 2007

This is a repost of something I put up a while back and got no response!
Would like to try again. Hopefully somebody out there has an idea or
suggestion. Her goes:-

I have a problem with Office 2007 (Outlook and Word, have not use the
others) not responding when I come back from sleep mode under Vista
(Business edition). If I launch these programs after returning from sleep
mode they
sometimes just hang. It unfortunately is not consistent. Sometimes they
work OK others not. They work perfectly with a "normal" startup.

If I try and cancel the program they hang. The top Window Caption bar says
"Not Responding". Ctrl+Alt+Del shows up as the tread "Not responding".
Using the "End tread" option takes a few minutes to close. Even if I try and
shut down Vista the whole thing takes 2 minutes. It does not seem to be an
Internet reconnect problem because I can use IE7 to get out fine.

Most interestingly I did not have this problem with Office 2003 on this
exactly same hardware hardware setup or earlier under Windows XP.

Please help. This is very frustrating.

Really am beginning to wish I had stuck with Office 2003!

John,

Okay, I am hardly a computer whiz, but I have been having a lot of
problems recently with my band new laptop as well. From what I have read
today on the Microsoft blog (I will try to copy and past the address to the
blog and you can copy and paste it into your browser), your problem is not
just the MSOffice 2007, it is the Vista in hibernation mode period. There
are about 10 pages of just issues with Vista getting jammed up in hibernation
mode. A lot of people including my self have to shut the copmputer down using
the power button, then turn it back on. Of course doing this gets you an
error page half the time due to improper shut down. However, I have not heard
anything about the problem being specific to MSOffice 2007, just to laptops
with Vista that go into hibernation from shutting them, or just from being
idle. As for the MSOffice 2007, I am having one hell of a time getting the
trial to work period. I used a dfsc to download MSOffcie 2003 into my laptop
with Vista, and it worked for a week; after a week when it wouldn't work, I
went to the support site and it said that it wasn't compatible with Vista,
and to download the trial of 2007, which I cannot get o work properly. The
MSWord won't load, and the other programsd load, but I cannot connect online
to activate, and the activate by telephone option is dimmed. I tried
repairing it, erasing some liscensing code file that the support site told me
to, and uninstalling and reinstalling, all to no avail! I hope I have helped
with the hibernation issue, and if you have any answers for me please
post/reply! Thanks, Angelina

Thanks for info. I don't understand why more people are not having this
problem. I have nothing special on this computer. One other person in
another usergroup mentioned his/her Outlook 2007 "OST file" was getting
curroupted when they returned from Vista sleep mode. They had the same
Outlook hang-up problem. Not sure if that helps. The problem however seems
to be larger than Outlook because when I try to open Word I have the same
problem.

John,

No problem. Sorry I couldn't actually give you a solution! I myself am
on my third download (after of course installing/uninstalling) of the
MSOffice 2007 trial, and all three have had the same exact two problems that
I mentioned. To top it off my laptop which has Vista also has the
hibernation/sleep mode issue. It is brand new, and I am going nuts! I don't
know if I want to even buy a had copy of the MSOffice 2007, since I cannot
even see what it does or how it works! It is not cheap either, and if I
cannot get it to install/work properly or actually AT ALL... then I don't
even know if I can return it! Good Luck, and keep me posted of any blogs you
may come across with any helpful info for me!~Trinitylynne

Frankly so far I am very disappointed with Office 2007. I actully prefer the
2003 version. Its quite frustating getting to know the 2007. See how long it
takes a Word 2003 user to figure out how to spellcheck or print a file in
2007! This combined with the sleep problem make me real mad when I
considered what I paid for it.

BTW its almost definatly a problem with Office 2007. Today i fould if I
return from sleep mode and immediatly open up Front page 2003 I had no
problem. But if I did the same for Word 2007 (not included in Office 2007)
it hung.
