re zipping and sending back end

I have been in the habit of zipping my back end and sending it to remote
users for updates on their laptops. My zipped file now exceeds 10 KB and
Outlook is giving me an error message and will not send the file. Any
suggestions?

I do this all the time. 10KB is peanuts. Do you mean 10 MB? Even that is
reasonable, but may run up against a limit of your ISP. What error message do
you get from Outlook?

Sorry yes I meant 10 MB. The message is " The messaging interface has
returned an unknown error. If problem persists, rest outlook" We have
resent to 50 MB and still it won't go.

Anne,

Why not try hosting the be on the internet and have the users download
it? This would negate the need to resend the BE to everybody, all
you would need to do is reupload the BE then send out a mass email
annoucing the update.

For security, you should have some sort of password-protected site. I would
also encrypt the zip file and give out the password to your recipients.

Another option is to zip the mdb into multiple zip files, each no more than
9MB. Using zip programs like winzip, you can set a maximum file size and the
zip utility will create multiple files if needed. You can email each piece
separately to stay within your 10MB limit. The recipient has to save all the
fragments in the same folder, and then open the first fragment to extract
the complete file.
