If you are talking about what I think you are talking about, then there is no
way to "deactivate" this functionality. Instead, you must remove the
password/s to open and/or modify the document, which are set on the
"Security" tab of the "Options" dialog box - assuming, of course, that you
know the password/s. There is no other (legal) way to do this. This is by
design; the purpose of password security is to prevent unauthorised access.
(And before everyone jumps in to tell me how weak password security is and
how easily it can be defeated... I KNOW! ;-p)
Alternatively, if you are talking about the prompt that is displayed when
you try to open a document that is already open by another user, then
disregard the above. However, this does not mean that there _is_ away to
"deactivate" this functionality either. Again, this is by design and is
intended to prevent two (or more) users from making changes to a document
simultaneously. As you might well imagine, this could cause some real
problems, as the last person to save the document would overwrite any changes
made by any other users. In this situation, your only choices are to open a
"read-only" copy of the document (as prompted) or to wait until the other
user has closed the document.
