Read-Only Error Message Upon File ReSave

When periodically saving my work, I receive an error
message that the file cannot be saved to the current
filename because it is read-only. I choose a different
filename,save, and close. When I check file properties via
Explore, the first file is not checked read-only.
Sometimes it is checked archive. Unchecking that box does
not solve the problem, i.e. Word still thinks the file is
read-only upon attempted resave.
