read only files

When I copy files from a cd back to my hard drive, is there a way I can
change them from read only en bloc, ie at the moment I have to go to the
properties of each file and uncheck the read only box. I have copied a
whole folder across, which contains more than 20 files - please tell me there
is a quicker way!! Thanks.

In Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder where the files reside.
Select one file, then press Ctrl-A to select them all. Now right-click on
the highlighted group and click Properties. On the General tab of the
Properties box it will say something like, "20 files, 0 folders." Now
un-check the Read-only box and click OK or Apply. The attributes of all
selected files will be changed.

You can also go to the Properties of the folder itself, make the change,
and specify that it be applied to the folder and all of its contents.

Gary,
I read your post and am having a similar problem. When I change from
read-only and go back to properties, the read-only appears again. The change
does not stick. These files come from a cd-rw which I moved to the hard drive
and want to update the files.
