Read only issue

Dear all,

I'd appreciate your help on my little but annoying
problem!

when transferring my database by CD to another machine I
get a "read only" message. I normally right click on the
file and untick the "read only" box which fixes it, but
on some machines it won't. In this case I create a new
blank file and then import all of the original file
contents.

Is this bug common and is there an easier way to deal
with the issue?

As far as I know, all the files copied to a CD will be marked as read-only.
When copy it back to your HD, it'll still keep the readonly attribute.
Untick the readonly attribute from file/property popup should fix the
problem.

As for why you can't uncheck the readonly attrubute, my guess are:
1. The login user don't have the previlege to change it
2. The media the file is saved on is readonly, eg. on a CD.
