Read only split database back end in Access 2007

I've split a 2000 format database (using Access 2007) and used command line
switches to make the front end read only to certain users. Is there any way
to make the back end read only as well? Access 2007 has no more user
security so I can't do it that way, right? Is network security on the back
end the only way to accomplish this? Tthe back end is on the network.

I'm using Access 2007. I can't find anything in there about Access 2007. As
I understand it, you can't use security in 2007???

Sorry, you may be right. I would try google on access 07 security and see if
you find anything.
