Read receipt requests

Using Outlook 2000, my preference is to respond to every request for a read
receipt. They are requested from time to time, but when they do they never
are sent, staying in my outbox and I get this message:

"This message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected
by the server. Server response: 550 <[email address]> 'relaying not
allowed'. Account: .... Error Number: 08x800ccc79"

The email addresses are good. Any idea why this happens?

I can't answer your question, but I never respond to any request for a read
receipt. If it doesn't bounce then I received it.

I understand your position, but this was a request from a trusted colleague
who simple wanted to make sure I got it. If it is something timely, knowing
I read it could be important info. for both of us.

You're not properly authentication to the outgoing server, perhaps. See if
this helps: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/214402/en-us
