Read Receipts are not being processed in Outlook

I upgraded to Outlook 2007 from 2003 in July 2007.

I have always had my read receipt option turned on and it has worked fine
until recently, last month to be precise.
I noticed that although I checked the options to "Process on arrival", and
"After processing, move to Deleted Items"; my read receipts are not being
moved.

When I receive them, I open and then it should move from Inbox to deleted
Items, but this doesn't happen. I have to delete them manually.

Has anyone experienced this before? Please help.
