Hi John,
You didn't mention the version of Word you're using. For the readability statistics to display the settings for 'Check grammar
with spelling' and 'show readability statistics' have to be turned on:
In Word 2003, Tools=>Options=>Spelling & Grammar
In Word 2007, Proofing Options (Alt, T, O, P)
Use F7 in the document, If the document has not been through spell/grammar check then F7 activates that dialog where you can then
make the changes and then display the readability statistics, or the readability statistics display with F7 when there are no
spelling/grammar errors detected and if the proofing language of the text has been set to a English. (In Word 2007 using the
Revieiw=>Spelling & Grammar button matches the F7 function as well). (Text set to 'do not check spelling or grammar' will not have
a readability rating).
