Reading data from linked Excel "tables"

I have data in Excel, which is linked to my Access 2003 frontend.

I simply need to read the data (record by record) and can't get

"Currentdb.openrecordset"

to work. If I use the code on a linked Access table, it works - but then if
it's a linked Excel file, it doesn't work (There is a $ after the table name
and says it's not a valid name).
