Reading document properties

Is it possible to read word document properties within a visual basic
program, without opening the word document or any other dialog box ?
I just want to get the values of the subject property (for example) in a VB
proc.

Helmut's answer is correct, dsofile.dll can be used to read properties. The
following aticle contains a Word VBA project that uses dsofile to create
listings of files with properties you select
