reading metadata from Word

hi, i store important data using metadata. i need a program that can read
and extract th metadata from a Word file. this needs to inlcude the 'custom'
metadata that is part of the metadata.
i would want this to have command line option and hopefully run on liniux
(sorry ).

i have found suitable program for Acrobat and i have one that will read the
metadata but not the custom metadata.

any help would be appreciated.

Could you please provide more information

1. The document file format: is this the proprietary *.doc file format for Word
2003 and earlier? Or is this the Office 2007 OpenXML file format (docx, docm,
etc)?

2. Could you be more specific about what you mean by "metadata"? Metadata isn't
a term used by the Word object model or UI, so we have no idea what you mean by
it. Do you mean Document Properties, document Variables, something else...?
