Reading pane does not display email content

I'm using Outlook 2003 and suddenly the reading pane does not show the
content (body) of the emails in any of the folders (only the headers are
shown). Opening the email to a separate window doesn't help. I can only view
the emails if I forward or reply to them. Any ideas? Thanks!

Does it work correctly in Outlook Safe Mode?
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe

Often these issues are caused by having a virus scanner integrated with
Outlook which corrupts the message when writing a flag or a "This message
was scanned by..." rule to it.

Uninstall the mail scanning feature of your virus scanner; you don't need
it. See if new messages can be read now in the Reading Pane.

Robert,

It didn't work in Safe mode but disabling the virus scanner solved the
problem.

Thanks so much for your help!
