Reading Pane gone

Outlook 2007 (retail upgrade w/BCM) crashed today for no reason I could
determine. It seemed to take forever to send the report to Microsoft, and
then even longer for Outlook to close. I relaunched Outlook and everything
looks okay, except that the Reading Pane is gone. The current view and the
default view both show that the Reading Pane is set for Bottom; in other
words the Reading Pane is not turned off in the customize settings for any
view. Also, in the View menu Reading Pane is grayed out (i.e. not selectable).

I restarted my system in the hopes that would fix the problem, but the
Reading Pane is still missing. I upgraded from Outlook 2003 over a week ago,
and the Reading Pane has been working up until Outlook crashed this
afternoon. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this back?

BTW - I ran Office Diagnostics several days ago to repair Outlook 2007 after
I installed BCM. The Reading Pane was there both before I repaired Office and
afterward.

Thanks in advance your help!

Here's the "fix" for the missing Reading Pane, just in case anyone else
encounters this problem (see my first post on this topic).

Although I couldn't access "Reading Pane" in the View menu (it was grayed
out), I discovered today when I clicked on "Auto Preview" in the View menu,
THEN "Reading Pane" was available to select. Sure enough, for some
unexplainable reason the Reading Pane was turned off in the View menu, even
though it was turned ON in the Customize settings for Current View.

I hope this helps others who have run into the same type problem with the
Reading Pane in Outlook 2007.
