reading pdf on website

I created a PDF document using publisher, published it as PDF document and
referenced it to open in a separate window in a website I also created. I
have other PDF documents created with Adobe Acrobat published from WORD that
open just fine on this website page but this one created with Publisher would
get nearly downloaded in the new window and the window would go blank. Why?

I discovered that there was nothing wrong with the HTML in the page as I
first had thought but, when I took that Publisher created PDF document,
loaded it into Adobe
Acrobat and printed to another PDF document it opened just fine in my website.

Also, if I open the created website from files on my comuter using IE the
problem PDF opens. Could there be some setting, fonts, etc. that need to be
set with Publisher in order to make this work directly wothout doing a
work-around?

Thanks.

Not sure if I understand your problem but I am assuming that you are using
Publisher 2007 and the PDF addon to produce the problem pdf. When you
Publish as a PDF and the save dialog comes up you have the option of
Optimizing for different uses. Click the change button and perhaps choose a
different option than you did with the problem pdf. For example as a rule I
would probably suggest you avoid the High quality printing or Commercial
press for your use and the Minimum size will load the fastest and Standard
might be a bit better quality.

Also you might want to install the Office SP2. I think I remember that it
fixed some problem with the pdf addon.

and of Microsoft Office Language Pack 2007 SP2:

If none of this helps then perhaps provide us a link to a page where you
have linked to a problem pdf so we can see what you are seeing.

David,

Sorry for the double post. I almost submitted another. It seems my window
didn't refresh and show my first post until I hit the Website subgroup under
Publisher in the lefthand column. Also, I had checked the "notify me of
replies" and didn't hear anything. So I don't know.

Anyway, thanks, that worked! I do have SP2 and no more need for a
workaround. I usually publish to standard. The Publisher default setting is
high quality. I wonder why that would be the problem though. Size wise
publishing to high quality or standard from the high quality (workaround) was
about 2+MB and the standard size publishing directly was .7MB. But, I don't
think size is should be a problem. I have other files that are 2+MB and they
load with no problem.

Bob,

Unfortunately the "notify me of replies" feature rarely if ever works. I am
just glad you made it back as many don't.

Thanks for posting your success. As to the why for, I am not sure. But if
you click the Advanced button under the Publish options you will see that
the defaults for high quality printing is to downsample to 300 dpi pictures,
standard is to 150 dpi and minimum size is 96 dpi which is what you should
be using if the pdf file is to be viewed on screen by most. The difference
in file size is substantial and may not matter to you or anyone with a
broadband connection, but your dial-up connection viewer will notice. It
takes 5 minutes or longer to download a 1 MB file! I am not going to be a
happy camper to have to wait for your 2 MB or larger files. Besides if you
print out the pdf flyer at the minimum dpi, you might be surprised at the
quality. Bottom line is you do need to be conscious of the file size even if
it does not always cause a problem for you in my opinion.
