Reading Resource information from a 3rd party application

We have a 3rd party application where all personnel (the Resources) enter
their time-management details (hours, etc.), which is then linked into our
SAP system, for internal costing, etc..

I wonder if Project Server can also interrogate this (home developed)
database, so that when one of the project managers assigns a resource to a
task, it reads, and returns the information on the availability of the
resource? And adjusts the Task accordingly, or gives a message on
availability.

We have a Win2003 Server AD, and resources are synchronised to that, but our
Groupware is Lotus :-((

Chris:

Inasmuch as Project and Project Server provide a robust API, the answer is
theoretically yes. Whether or not the data contained in your applicaiton is
applicable to your project environment is the more pressing question.
