Reading/Saving Attachments

Since upgrade from v 5 to v6:

Will not open/save .txt .bat and some other files which are attached to
incoming messages
They are greyed out when the paperclip button is clicked.
But will open/save others e.g. .Doc files

OS windows 2000

Cannot find any relevant 'help' or option to do anything about this

P.S. .txt files open fine with Notepad when they are 'double clicked'
