Reading status of multiple checkboxes in a word table

I play in Excel, rarely in Word- I appreciate any help you can provide.
Target document is being opened in Office2003, and was originally created in
2003 or earlier, although I'm sure it has been opened in 2007 along the way
(still saved as a .doc)

My internal customer has a Word form that is being used to collect data.
Copies of this form all go to a central location. We would like to improve
the process by having Excel pull all the relevant data from all the forms
into a table for review on a daily basis. I have Excel opening the forms, and
pulling most of the data- but there is one cell that include three
checkboxes, and I need to be able to determine the status of each and bring
that over as well.

When I click on them directly for properties, it brings up a dialogue that
is titled "Check Box Form Field Options"

What is the proper Word syntax for pulling/checking the value of a checkbox
of this type from within a table cell?

Thank you!
Keith

ActiveDocument.FormFields("nameofcheckboxformfield").Checkbox.Value will
give you the status of a checkbox - True if it is checked; False if it is
not.
