real Palatino SmallCaps

Morning.

I want that Word uses *real* SmallCaps of Palatino instead of
*artificially* created pseudo SmallCaps when SmallCaps is checked in the
font format panel. So I intend to buy at linotype.com this font
PostScript for Macintosh (MacOS X 10.4.3):

http://www.linotype.com/8856/palatinoromansc-font.html

Does it work, or if not whats the way to let it work? And does it work
in Word v.X or only in Word 2004 or in both?

TIA and kind regards.

Two things:

(1) no, even if you have the specific small caps font, Word won't
automatically use them if you select "Small Caps" in the formatting
menu... you have to specifically select that font.

(2) if you're using Word, primarily, there's no advantage to using the
OpenType version... if you're using InDesign or something, yes, but
accessing the small caps in an OpenType font with Word means using the
Character Palette, which is a pain, compared to simply selecting
PalatinoRoman SC or whatever the small caps font is called.

Good luck!
