Realistic Hardware Requirements for Project 2010 SQL SERVER BOX

It has been said that the recommended hardware requirements for a
Project Server 2010 box is:

64-bit
dual quad-core processors
8GB of RAM or more
200GB disk space at RAID 1

Wonder what capacity that would support?

We may end up purchasing a new box for this purpose, but I was
wondering what would work well as a SQL SERVER box? For example,
I'll soon have available a machine with

XEON 2 x dual core processors running at 2.33GHZ
4GB RAM
135GB disk space

Would this suffice for a Project 2010 SQL Server box for, say 400-500
project managers and 2000-3000 web users?

Thanks,

Andy - One thing you should always consider when selecting hardware is
hardware lifecyle. Will you have vendor support of this hardware through the
lifecycle of the product?

Andy:

Those are *minimum* specs. I'd go with more RAM on the front end and get at
least the same specs for your SQL box. Better still, use a big-ass shared
SQL environment that you can optimize for performance and serve more
applications than just Project Server. Also, you need to consider what you
might do with SharePoint, not just Project Server when sizing your
environment. There are just so many goodies in that package that you might
want to fire-up.
