really simple ( I'm betting) top margin question.

Hi everybody....
I know this is going to remedial Word for 90% of you but I tried the help
section in Word and got nowhere.

Let's say I open a new blank document. The first page I have to pull that
slider thing on the left down to about 3 inches because I'm sticking pre-printed
letterhead in the printer. OK... I'm typing along and I run out of "paper" so
of course Word pops up a new page for me to keep typing where it left off from
page 1.

That's fine except that starting on page 2, I don't need the 3" at the top
anymore, because I'm only using the big graphical letterhead for that first
page, page1.

So for the life of me I can't figure out how to make the top margin on the
second, third..... pages, you know, like an inch or something without it
affecting page 1 also.

Thanks so much!

Tim

File > Page Setup is the key to the task. Set your headers 'Different First
Page' (on the layout tab) then set the size of your headers to accommodate
your pre-printed stationery.

Rather than do this every time, create a template with these settings, then
base your new letters on that template.

Thanks to you too Suzanne! You helped me with some other bonehead question of
mine about a year and half ago and were right on the money then too! Glad to
you see you're still around. :)

Take care, both of you.

Tim

than martinique has provided.
