Really slow ER diagrams

I am trying to design a table in my DB design, and I need it to have about
160 columns. I have got it to about 60 and it has started to go SO slow I
have to type in column names letter-by-letter. Letter, hourglass, letter -
you get the idea.

I am on Visio 2003 Pro and a comp with plenty of power (xp2400+, 1gb ram).
I've looked everywhere for a solution to this?

I am having the same issue. I know this is an older post, but I was hoping
that you or someone else might have found out why this is occuring... Any
luck?
