If it's OEM - (i.e it came pre-installed) then you can't.
If it's retail, then just insert the CD and follow the instructions. Home
and Student Retail Licence allows an installation on three different
machines...

Do I need to uninstall Home & Student on the computer I'm returning to the
MNFG or is there a way to Unauthorize after the laptop has been returned?

Uninstall from the duff machine first.
