I've just spent more than an hour (a very frustrating hour) following up on
rebates, which is what's pronpted me to generate this post. No... the
rebates is not for OneNote or any other MS product.
I keep track of all these rebate offers, dates mailed, follow up calls,
etc... in OneNote. As in the case with rebates, some activities such as
checking the status on-line needs to be put on hold for a couple of months
before any activity can take place. And then there's the infamous waiting
period before another check can be mailed because the "original" check was
lost in the mail... This is just one reason why OneNote needs to implement
some sort of a reminder (such as a flashing icon in the systray) that there
is an event or activity that needs attention.
I submitted a request to MS at
http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp asking them to implement
this idea without having to rely on Outlook. Hopefully they'll get right on
it and have it available as a patch by Christmas!
