Rebuilt Database Questions

Hazel Greenberg

Yesterday, I restarted my iMac, opened up Entourage 2008 (latest version),
which I have only been using for a few months, and got the dreaded Database
Utility. Luckily, it was actually able to rebuild the database successfully.
Now I have a database called Backup . . . So, I have two questions. First,
should I trash the original version of the database that apparently had
problems? Second, is what I have now tantamount to a new identity, or should
I create a new identity and import everything from the ³backup² created
yesterday? Or do nothing?
(In case this is relevant, my OS is 10.5.8)

The one with something like this: [Backed up 10-21-2009 13.35] is the one to
delete. If you are satisfied with the rebuild, it¹s safe to delete it.

Rebuilding does not always fix all problems. Try this test to verify.

Under File > Export select the default action to export all items as
Entourage archive (.rge) file. If that exports without an error, then your
database should be good.

A benefit of this test is you have a backup of your data that you can save.
