Receive "ActiveX component can't create object" upon launching Wor

Just installed Office 2007 Enterprise on a computer running Windows XP Pro.

When I launch Word 2007 I get the following error message: "ActiveX
component can't create object". Functions such as setting a default font or
page margins are not saved to the normal.dotm file.

All other Office programs appear to work correctly.
