Dear All,

Recently my PC was formated and before formating I have backed up my email
(.pst) (Outlook 2007 on Windows 7 ultimate 32 bit).
After formating I have reconfigure outlook 2007 but when I configured my
account setting, all mails received again that were already in my .pst as all
mails were on server (earlier I have chosen leave a copy on server).

Now I just wanted to know is there any way to stop receiving all mail which
are already in my .pst file because every time I have to delete all duplicate
mail manually after formating my PC.
Pls suggest...

Thanks in advance..

When you reformat, you wind up creating a new mail profile. The information
Outlook keeps about what messages have been downloaded is mail
profile-specific. If you create a new mail profile, the information is reset.
Outlook won't know what messages were downloaded before. I believe Outlook
2010 will ameliorate this problem.

There are three ways to address this. First, don't leave copies of messages
on the server. If they're not on the server, Outlook can;t download them
again. Of course, you won't be able to see them when accessing your mailbox
from a web browser. Second, lok into your mailbox with a web browser and
create a new mail folder on the server. Move the messages from the mailbox's
Inbox to that newly-created folder. If it's not in the Inbox, Outlook won't
download it. Third, create a new PST, make it the default PST, allow Outlook
to download all the old messages, then switch back to using the original PST
as the default.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for reply.
you are right but I have 1000s of mail and it is not possible to move all of
them to new folder in web-mail.
In Outlook Express I am able to stop OE to download all message which were
downloaded before after n number of system formatting but unable to fix this
in MS outlook :(

Anyway I will keep my RnD on to fix it :)

Thanks..

I gave you several methods to deal with it. The third method I mentioned will
work.

Yeah! You are right Brain.

Outlook 2010 has the ability, not to download all the messages that were
already downloaded before system formatting.

I tried it personally.

Outlook 2010 is simply superb. Also It has many new features.
