receiving emails but response looks blank but in fact is not

From just one person, emails show what I send but not what that persons is
responding to me. Using Outlook 2007.

Also, when I email a pdf file, this other person receives it as a win.dat
file.

Sounds like you or the other person is scanning email with an antivirus
scanner. Disable/uninstall the scanner.

Also, when I email a pdf file, this other person receives it as a win.dat
file.

Make sure you're not sending in Rich Text format. Your second symptom
indicates you are.
