Receiving Error Mssg "Cannot shift objects off sheet."

Microsoft Excel 2003

I cannot open or close column groupings because of error mssg "Cannot shift
objects off sheet." Why is this occurring? Everything was working fine
until I emailed the file home, and then back to work. Now I cannot open or
close the column groupings.
