Receiving two of each message

Mitch

I installed Outlook2002 on a new computer and set up my email POP3 accounts.
On both accounts, I am receiving duplicate emails -- two of everything -- not
sure why. I have tried deleting the mail account setup and re-entering the
info, which does not work. Any suggestions?

If your POP3 account supports webmail (like webmail.adelphia.com) use your
browser to see if there are duplicates on the account vs. duplicates in
Outlook.

I have seen rules duplicate entries. This is because the rule is not set to
"Stop Processing All Following Rules" and a glitch in the code will "move"
the message to more than one box. This seems to be a timing thing where the
original stays in the Inbox until the copy completes and during this copy
process the next rule is executed on the same message.

Also check to make sure you do not have "leave copies on server" selected.
This too can cause duplicate entries if one receive leaves a copy there and
the next receive removes it.

There can be other causes but these are the ones that come to mind.
