Recent File Listing in Word 2002 is missing

Hello;

The recent file listing panel on the right side of the screen in Word 2002
has disappeared - it used to be there. I do have the Recent File Listing box
checked is the Tools/Options menu. Tried to do a reinstall/repair of Word
and that didn't make the Recent Files Menu come back. Could there be a
registry value that is corrupt, etc.?

Any ideas would really be appreciated. Thanks!

Suzanne;

Thanks for your reply. I do not have Tweak UI installed on my machine.
Also the Recently Used File List check box in Options/Tools/General is
checked and the check box is active not grayed out.

Do you have any other suggestions on how I can get the Recently Used File
List to appear again? Thanks!

Hi Bill,

As you mentioned this being on the right side of the screen, in Word 2003 you may be looking for the New Document Task pane. Ctrl+F1
brings up the task panes and you can use the drop down at the top of the task pane to select 'new document'.

The other two recent file lists would be at the bottom of the File Menu and in the File=>Open dialog, or if you've added one in the
'Work' menu at the top of the Word menu bar.

Suzzane and Bob -

I apologize for my extreme confusion. I have been calling my problem the
wrong thing.

It really is that the New Document task pane on the right side of the screen
in Word 2002 is not appearing when I open Word.

I thought it was call the recent file list because it shows recent documents
that I have worked on.

I can go to the View menu and click on Task Pane and it will appear. When I
close Word then open Word again the Task Pane is not there and I have to go
to the View menu again and click on Task Pane to make it appear again.

Do you know how I can get the New Document Task Pane to automatically appear
when I open Work like it use to do until a couple of weeks ago? To my
knowledge nothing has changed on my machine and it virus and spyware free.

Thanks again for your help - I am sorry I steered you wrong.

I wanted to also let you know that the Show At Startup box at the bottom of
the New Document task pane is also checked but it is not showing at Word
startup.
