Hi Guys,

Why is the recent flies/notes list missing? If possible I would like to
avoid clicking file, open, notebook, search for the files, then click open...

It's not there, because you generally don't close your notebooks.
Meaning, you keep them open until you decide to archive them.

In general, YES. BUT - there always is a but -: Given one has enough
RAM.
On my desktop things are become really critical meanwhile with my big
notebooks.

Apart from that:
In *my* "File" menu I have the menu item the OP is looking for: it's
not called "Recent ..." but at present I have 4 notebooks listed
there.

Kindof off the topic, but very well related, I wish that closed notebooks
were included in searches. I have a HUGE wealth of knowledge in my notebooks
(an entire year of medical school) and I wish I could search it all
effectively. However, there are just too many notebooks to be open at a
single time.

There are ways around it (such as opening the root folder as the notebook),
but...

If you have windows indexing turned on (which it is by default), it should
have indexed your emails and ON files. Search from the start menu instead of
within ON, should be able to search all except password protected ON files.

Are you using ON2k7? How come i don't have such a list?

XLDY,

That isn't true. Only notebooks that are opened are indexed. The index
doesn't discriminate against being in ON or in WDS.

It's correct that ON notebooks are indexed automatically.

BUT: Searching works only *INSIDE* ON.
At least on *my* system WDS will not find anything in an ON file.

In any case, if that's the case and you still want to search all
notes, why not use google desktop search then?

AFAICS there is no too much use in using several Desktiop-Search
instrument.
So I won't use WDS and Google on the same system.

Apart: will Google desktop search find things in ON files?
And if so: How to naviagte there?
Furthermore: How about indexed images and sound files?
