Recently purchased 2003 and no possibility for Office 2007 discoun

I just bought a new laptop, along with the Student and Teacher Office 2003.
I have finished installing the 2003, only to go to the Microsoft page and
find that it is raving about the new 2007! When I purchased the laptop from
Dell, there was no mention of the Office 2007. If I had known the release
was coming so soon, I would have waited to buy my laptop and ensured that I
got the newest version of Office.

I'm surprised and a little upset that there is no upgrade option from Office
2003 to 2007 and would like to suggest that Microsoft give a discount to
customers who recently bought the 2003 version and would like to upgrade to
2007.

Hi Harburgm,

If you purchased MS Office 2003 after 25Oct2006 from Dell you may be eligible for the upgrade to the 2007 Home & Student edition
(adds Onenote, drops Outlook), the closest equivalent to the Office 2003 Student & Teacher Edition under Microsoft's Technology
Guarantee program as well as an upgrade to Windows Vista from MS Windows XP, if your hardware supports it. Follow the appropriate
links for either 'retail' or 'preinstalled on new PC' links from
http://microsoft.com/athome/techguarantee/worldwide.mspx

While, it may not have been the type of thing discussed in all media, MS Office 2007 public betas have been available since last
summer and the the discussion of it has been going on for about a year.
