Recently started correcting surname although in custom dictionary

Have you checked your autocorrection settings? There may
be a setting in there telling it to make that correction
(e.g., Bope to Bop). Click...

Tools | AutoCorrect | AutoCorrect: then...

scroll down the list and look for Bope in the Replace
column. If it's there delete it.
