"Recently used file list" in Word 2003 not active

I just installed, upgraded to Office 2003. I recently only had Word 2000
from an OEM Works suite.

When I went to check to see if all my Options had stayed the same I noticed
that "Recently used file list:" was grayed out and the place where you would
see the number you wanted, was empty. Same problem with Excel & Power Point.

I also noticed that my "Measurement units" in Word, even though say Inches
in Options are Centimeters for the Documents I open or create. Can't seem to
change that too.

Any suggestion? Thank you.

I figured out what was wrong by reading some of the other posts of people
with the same problem and I want to let you know what the solution was for me.

Hope this helps people with the same problem.

My problem didn't start until I upgraded to Office 2003. I Read a post that
mentioned Tweak, so I took a look. Under "Explorer", in Tweaks tree, you
have to check mark "Maintain document history" to get the "Recently used file
list" to work.

I now have my recently used file lists back. Yea!

I just posted today with my problem. I've never used this Discussion Group
thing before, wished I had.

Tweak is a great tool...but you have to be careful, as I've found out before.
