recently used symbols

Is there a way to delete "Recently Used Symbols". Just because a symbol was
recently used doesn't mean that it's used often. I'd rather have only my
commonly used symbols across the bottom of the "Symbol" window. Thanks for
advice!

Nothing that I know of, but quite honestly you'd probably be happier if you
start using the OS X Character Palette instead. It gives you more to choose
from & you can collect your own set of favorites which don't change unless
you tell them to... and it's available in any app, not just Word.
