recipient not receiving my pdf attachments

Hi,

I am using Outlook 2003 on Windows XP with a MS Exchange server and I
recently started having trouble with a couple of my recipients not receiving
my pdf attachments. In the past there has been no trouble with these same
recipients.

I have had similar problems in the past with the winmail.dat issue and I was
able to resolve this best by simply replying to an email that originated from
the problem recipient.

For this new issue I have tried replying to a recipient's email, changed
formatting to plain text and html, and created entirely new pdf files but
nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any input? One thing that I have
noticed is that with these same recipients it appears to be a random
occurence and my attachments are received about 35-50% of the time. I
believe the recipients are using Outlook 2003, but I am not 100% sure.

Thanks,
JT

Have you checked if the person you are sending to has any type of
restrictions on their email...like file type/size?

I have not specifically asked that question but I don't think that is an
issue since the pdf files I typically send are very small (in a range of
75-500k). And since the recipients do receive my files sometimes, that says
to me the pdf files are not being blocked across the board. I can literally
send the files, the client does not receive them, and within an hour I will
attempt to send the files again and they are received without a problem. And
just to confirm, I do check my sent message to make sure I actually did send
the attachments!

Thanks,
JT

If you don't know what mail client youre recipients are using, make sure you
always send them either Plain Text or HTML format messages. One of the
symptoms of a non-Outlook user receiving Rich Text messages is the inability
to see attachments.

That is what I thought at first and so I have tried that numerous times but
with no luck.

Did you also check the specific attributes of the contacts to whom you're
sending? There is a per-contact setting that overrides the general format
setting.

I have tried that as well. What I normally do is just reply to individual
emails and that seems to keep the format the same as the sender's original
format. I actually just solved one of my problems. The one individual who
was giving me the most trouble had a computer guy stop by his office and it
turns out he wasn't maximing his message window and so he was not able to see
my attachments! One problem solved. I may have to run this by the other
person who is giving me the same trouble.
