Recipients do not have email addresses -Error

Friends.

My friend is trying to send a message to someone, but when she presses
Send in her Outlook 2000, the she gets the following error:

"The following recipients do not have email addresses: (here goes the
address)".

The address is a fully legal address. It is in her address book also.

Whatever we try produces the same error. She is using Outlook 2000 with
SP 3 on a XP pro system.

How can we make Outlook to let her send a message to that address??
