On a report I want a textbox to show the record number. i.e. a member has 5
work experiences and I would like a textbox to show 1. for the first
experience and 2. for the second and so forth. How would that be done?

Please note that Access doesn't care when the "work experience" records were
entered.

If you want a "record number" associated with each record, YOU have to put
it in the record.

I along with access do not care when it was entered. I want a number to
appear on the report before the record printed indicating the record number
i.e. first record second record etc. Thanks for the input. I will look
forward to further comment.

If all seeker wants is an incrementing number in the detail section of the
report:
1) add a text box
2) set its control source to
=1
3) set its Running Sum to Over Group or Over All depending on requirements.

That did it great. Thanks.
