The Help is not "absolutely horrible" it's *absolutely absent*... As is VBA.

No offense, but I believe you must be the last person on the planet to find
that Office 2008 offers no VBA support whatsoever. This is something that
was formally announced prior to its original release.

The good news is that it has further been announced that VBA will be
restored in the next version release - but that's ~2 yrs away (or more).

suppose that is true--except i just recently purchased this mac and had previously been exclusively a pc user.

as for the help--not clear why this point isn't made more explictly in the help section (as in "VBA is not available in Office 2008 for Mac")

Well, I understand how you feel, but when's the last time you saw
information from *any* manufacturer/developer of *anything* dwell on what
their product *doesn't* have?:)

In all fairness, though it depends on what you're looking for help on & in
which program's Help. In many cases it will specifically state the VBA isn't
supported in the 2008 release. In Word for example, use VBA or macro as a
search term & the first 3 hits will be " My Visual Basic macros don't work".
The first line of the resulting help page reads:

Cause: Office 2008 for Mac cannot run Visual Basic macros or load add-ins
that contain Visual Basic macros.
