Records in workspace and stability;

B

bugbear

i have 5 workspaces shared across 10-15 machines at different locations and
some of the workspace tools have about 8000 to 10,000 records / entries.

how many records / entries can a workspace safely handle with stability and
what are the effects on synchronization when the entries in workspaces keep
on increasing.

someone also please advise whether i need to go in for Groove Server or
whether the default Microsoft relay server is good enough to handle my usage.

Hi Bugbear -

I think a sensible limit is about 20K records in Groove forms. It depends on
a few factors:

How much new stuff is being added
how many users
How many fields
How many views

Less view and fields allows more users and records. You get the idea,

The relay server is only interested in how much traffic is being generated.
It doesn't know how many records you have, or even what is in them. If you've
not seen a problem up to now, then the chances are you'll be OK as far as
relays are concerned.

thanks for your reply Mark,

hmm 20K.... according to current usage we will be crossing this figure
sometime in the near future, what then ?

i will try to answer your questions as precisely as possible

about 20-25 entries are being added daily into the workspace and this is
shared as i said between locations by 10-15 users

fields - should be about 15-20

views - 3

in fact we have been facing problems, data does not get synchronized across
users, entries take too long, it takes about 10 seconds for a form entry to
be saved and many times groove just hangs up and uses up 100% CPU and the
groove application sort of freezes.

any solution to this ?
