Is there any way to recover any data from a corrupted .pst file? Is there
anyway to open it & look at the information?
I'm running Outlook 2002 on a Windows XP (Dell) computer. I began having
problems with Outlook not shutting down or opening correctly. I downloaded
Service Pack 3. Outlook seemed to work for a couple of days but then it
stopped working completely - could not access folders, contacts, etc. I have
created a new .pst file & Outlook is now working. I am just wondering if
there is any way to recover any of the old e-mails, tasks, calendar, contacts.
I tried running scanpst.exe - but it could not run. I can't remember the
exact error message but I think it was something about the .pst file being
corrupt.
I did a chkdsk - didn't find any problems.
I did a detect & repair - didn't help.
I'm just wondering if there is any chance to recover any of the data. Also,
I'm wondering about backing up the data. Do I just do a weekly or monthly
backup of the .pst file and is that all I need to back up.
Thanks for any help/suggestions.
