I've always thought (must have read it somewhere) that access databases grow
in size disproportionately because deleted records are simply marked not to
display and that compacting will remove all that backup storage. Deleted
structural elements are also carried around but the only way to loose them is
to copy all the active or valid structural elements to a differnet clean
database.
Since there is no info on how to recover deleted records I've made it a
habit to backup often. However, I have always wondered why there is no
facility to recover deleted records or stuctural objects since they are
saved. Or better yet, maybe after all these years, MS can stop storing all
this garbage if it can be recoved so that we can all stop wasting our time
compacting and copying objects to reduce size and increases efficiency.
The least they can do is tell us why its necessary to do things this way.
