Recover email from an Outlook uninstall???

My wife uninstalled Outlook 2000 in order to install Office 2003 instead of
upgrading it and now she has lost all of her Outlook email and contacts,
etc... Is there any way that this is all still on the computer? I know that
you don't loose Word files when you uninstall can the same be true of Outlook?

ANY help will be appreciated!

Check the machine to see if there are still PST files around. Especially
check in hidden folders & such
