Recovering Data from a Lost File

I was almost finished typing a document using word in microsoft office 2007
for vista. I do not know what happened but the screen went blank and now I
cannot recover what I was typing. The document is not in the recycle bin.

I have tried numerous searches but nothing is coming up. I modified the
file I was using and now I cannot get any info from the file before the date
it was modified, and there is nothing in the modified file.

What can I do? I really need the info from an earlier date from this file.

That's all very confusing: please clarify.

Did you edit the original file? Is it lost? How are you getting the data
from before you modified it if it is lost? If you didn't delete it, why
would it be in your recycle bin? There's something missing from your
explanation.
